Playing Music in Your Podcast

You grew up listening to a song and you would LOVE to play it in your podcast. Can you do that?

To play the music you hear on the radio legally on your podcast you need permission from

  • The Songwriter
  • The Song Performer
  • Whoever owns the Mechanical Rights

Without permission from all of the above parties, you can't legally play the music (and there have been some podcasts that have been sued for playing music illegally)

Royalty-Free Music

Royalty-free music means you pay once for the rights to the music and you can play it as many times as you want (typically) you should always read the small print.

Here is a list of websites where you can find music.

You can save some money looking for “Logos” (shorter snippets of songs) or transitions that will be less expensive than buying a full songe.
